Microsoft Teams — How to fix opening with old account

Almost every IT projects these days use MS Teams as their communications platform usually in parallel to another platform like Slack. If this is true in your case, you might have noticed this issue with Teams desktop app — when you try to sign in with the new company account, the desktop app opens up with the old company account and surprisingly there doesn't seem to be an obvious way to get rid of that old account.

Even solutions like clearing cache from the drive and keychain doesn’t seem to fix the issue.

In this article, I will share with you a sure shot way of fixing that issue.

1. Sign-in to your new company account via the browser (or via the Teams mobile app)
2. Create a meeting and invite yourself (your new email address that you want to use on Teams). Essentially you are inviting yourself! We just need a meeting where you are one of the participants so you have the meeting link

3. Quit MS Teams if already open. This is important, otherwise it will open up the app with the old account again.
